Independent, woman-owned and quietly brilliant: Tilly runs her own chair inside Mane78, Belper's quirky first-floor salon, and her clients keep saying the same two things. The colour is fab, and so is the hour in the chair.

The chair

A sanctuary for hair enthusiasts

That is how Tilly's own listing describes it, and the room backs her up. Blush pink walls, a hot pink velvet chair, a mustard buttoned armchair, warm pine floorboards and more plants than some garden centres, all one flight of stairs above King Street.

Her clients put it more simply. One reviewer wrote that Tilly "makes you feel comfortable and at home in the salon". 10:30 to 19:30. The late one, for colour after work.

Friday

10:00 to 17:00. Weekend-ready hair, sorted.

Saturday

08:30 to 16:30. The early start favoured by wedding mornings.

Closed Sunday to Tuesday and Thursday. Live availability is always on Fresha.
